You Can’t Always Get What You Want – App Review

Now this looks promising I can get my Amazon Kindle books on my iPhone, this is what's coming...

With the launch of the iPad and the iBookstore, and the distinct possibility the store will make the transition to the iPhone for OS 4, digital books could be seen as the next piece of the App Store puzzle – another product to revolutionize. But even without the iBookstore, eBooks are easily accessible on the iPhone using existing apps such as Amazon’s Kindle or Stanza. There is however, now another way.

You Can’t Always Get What You Want (iTunes link) is the memoir of Sam Cutler, tour manager for the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead at the end of the ’60s. Originally published in print form in 2008, it has now become a standalone iPhone application containing the entire book narrated by Cutler, plus a sprinkling of multimedia content too. This represents the first of its kind, in North America anyway, and literary content aside, could be seen as a testbed for many a writer struggling to find an outlet for their work.

The app is designed to be listened too rather than read, as Cutler’s narration starts when you open a chapter and the base of the screen has controls for forward, reverse and pause. Naturally, his voice suits his words perfectly, although its tone isn’t conducive to sleep; so those who love to listen and drift away at night may not find You Can’t Always Get What You Want the most relaxing experience!

I bet that is a great read er, hear, I imagine Sam saw some interesting things in his lifetime. If you are just one of those folks that would prefer to read the book on your own, click the link You Can't Always Get What You Want
